Attractions in Puerto Rico

There is so much to see and do in Puerto Rico that it is difficult to describe all of the activities. You will want to make sure that you take plenty of time to visit this island in the Caribbean so that you can take advantage of its beauty and exciting activities. Some of them include:

 

The Luis A. Ferre Science Park

This is a must if you have kids as it is fun as well as educational. This is 42 acres of science including an observation deck, playgrounds, a zoo and museums. This is one of the biggest family attractions in Puerto Rico and is open daily. Billed the “Disney World of the Caribbean,” it is surprisingly affordable. It is located in Bayamon.

Salinas Salt Flats

This is one of the best places in Puerto Rico for bird watching. You can some 40,000 different birds that migrate to the Salinas Salt Flats, also in Bayamon, each year.

The Faro de Fajardo

This is a national reserve that is owned by the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico. This includes not only natural beauty, but also a working 19th century lighthouse that you can visit. When you climb to the top of this structure, you can see the distant islands of the Caribbean on a clear day. The lighthouse is called El Faro and is the second oldest on the island. The Faro de Fajardo is located in Farjardo.

Observatorio Astronomico

This is another place that you will want to visit during your trip to Puerto Rico. Located in Humacao, this astronomy museum allows you to see the stars like never before. Make sure that you visit this attraction at night and see the night sky from the Caribbean and view various constellations.

Plazo Colon

Located in Mayaguez is the Plaza Colon where there is a large statue of Christopher Columbus as well as other smaller statues throughout the square. This is an interesting and history area in which to explore and the monument of Christopher Columbus is definitely photo worthy.

Carite Forest Reserve

Located in Patillas, this is the best place to bird watch on the island. You can go to Cerro La Santa which is the highest natural point on the island and see birds as well as beauty. The reserve is very large and contains at least 50 different species of birds. There is also a picnic area at this nature reserve.

Skatepark Roller Vertical Exploration

The skate park is a lot of fun for the young or young at heart and this is a fast paced and action packed park located in Quebradillas. If you are a skateboard or roller blading enthusiast, you will enjoy this large skate park.

Vieques National Wildlife Refuge

This refuges houses endangered animal and plant life including birds. This is one place that every nature enthusiast will enjoy and is located in Vieques.

Whether you are looking for action or natural beauty, you can find it in Puerto Rico.
